Movies about Dance

Here are some nice movies about dancing you need to see the next time you feel like doing a moonwalk but lack inspiration.

Dirty Dancing

The Dirty Dancing is one of the most watched dance movies out there. The story is about a lady named Frances ‘Baby’ Houseman who had the most memorable moment in her life with a dance instructor named John castle at a resort where her family was staying for the summer. The dance moves in the final scenes are so iconic and unique that it will make you question your dance partner why he can’t lift you like on command.

Center Stage

The movie as much covers everything; from young Zoe Saldana, Peter Gallagher’s eyebrows, Ilia Kulik and Olympic gold medalist, a sexually seem number set to Jamiroquai and Michael Jackson. It covers it all, whether you are watching out for the fantastic ballet dance movies or the inspirational message that every dancer should dance with his or her heart even when things don’t turn out right. But the general story is about a lady Margot Fonteyn who had the proverbial two left legs when it comes to dancing.

Black Swan

Some people are of the opinion that this movie is scary while others are of the view that it is not. The focus here is not whether it is scary or not, it is about the dancing, and the movie has a lot of dance scenes in it. Nina, played by Natalie Portman is a youthful girl who would do about anything to land the main role in a ballet company’s production titled Swan Lake. Place an over protective , but hot director in the picture, a very competitive Mila Kunis and a psychotic mother living indirectly through her daughter and you get a big old nightmare ballet movie.

Step Up

Step Up is an almost ridiculous tale of a young man who comes from the other side of the tracks and is helping a ballet dancer to spice up her movies with hip-hop moves in preparation for a big audition coming up. The story, in a nutshell, is on how Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan developed a deep affection for each other. For series later, this is undoubtedly one of the best dance movies out there.

You Got Served

If street dance is your thing, then you should add You Got Served to your list of must watch movies. The movie is about street dance battles and a competition where the ultimate prize is to dance in a music video by Lil Kim.

You Got Served

Strictly Ballroom

This movie debut was hyped but excellently. The storyline is about Scott Hastings who partners with Fran who has no last name and was not his taste when it comes to dance or romance. Their part gets to cross again when the Pan-Pacific Grand Prix Dance Championships comes around the corner. Scott wants to make his moves while Fran goes several transformations. They finally picked a cover of ‘Time After Time’ to serve as their love song. You won’t help but fall in love with this movie.
